I needed a change from what I had been doing and this was certainly it! Totally unlike me - bright colours and not a tree in sight - I really enjoyed this as a project. It was based on a 'Darned Quilt' technique by Dena Crain and used a pack of strips which I curve pieced before embellishing and cutting.I live in rural Norfolk, England, but spend time each year in Virginia, U.S.A. where my husband and I have a log home in the woods. I love the natural world, particularly trees, and my work is frequently inspired by it. I rarely repeat anything and love trying new ideas and techniques with quilting, painting and free motion machining making mostly wall hangings. Please enjoy looking at my blogs, old and new and at my website (www.lindaturner.co.uk) where you can see more of my work .

I love this quilt Linda, like you I don't usually 'do' brights but this is gorgeous. Hope to see it 'in the flesh' at show'n'tell!
ReplyDeleteImpressive! Congratulations! I like the model, I like the colors, I like the result! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteHello Linda,
ReplyDeleteThis looks amazing finished.
best wishes,
Jane C
I am very, very jealous of this piece. You have to be quite daring to use such saturated color, but what a great result. I need more bright fabrics.
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous piece. As I'm addicted to color (can't seem to do anything subtle), I can only approve! I've enjoyed going over your blog and seeing your textile work/play.
ReplyDeletebest, nadia
Thank you for visiting my blog and your kind comment. This was my first attempt at making a landscape from felted pieces. Not great art, but lovely textures and colors.
